Palatine Hills Golf Course
Palatine Hills Golf Course was part of a master plan for the district prepared by the University of Illinois in 1963. Voters approved the plan in 1965. Half of the funding came from the federal government. The district purchased several properties for the course. The primary owner of the site was Nicholas Gavliano. Nick’s farm was called Hidden Acres. His home was remodeled into the clubhouse. Another owner, David Talbot, had run a mink ranch for twenty years at 586 West Baldwin Road. The district awarded the contract to build the golf course to Wadsworth Co. of Downers Grove. Professional golfer Charles Bartlett was hired to manage it. Opening day was in March, 1968.
