Share in the experiences of someone who attended a one-room schoolhouse in the 1950s with one teacher for 30 kids spanning eight grades!

THE BARBER, THE BAKER, THE CLOTHING MAKER

This year’s theme for the 2021 Cemetery Walk is The Barber, The Baker, The Clothing Maker. There are many residents of Hillside Cemetery who plied a trade in our town whether it was grocery store sales, tailors, shoeing horses, harness making, or butchering meat. And yes, there were also women who worked as cooks, seamstresses, and store clerks. All funds will be donated to cemetery restoration.

Admission:
  • $5 adults
  • $4 Historical Society Members
  • $2 children, ages 7-15

Please join us at our general meeting and program as we look back at our history with many pictures and stories. The Palatine Historical Society is excited to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the George Clayson House Museum. The museum opened in October of 1979 and after several renovations, was restored to the original single family Victorian-era house built in 1873.
